This is the first time I've added a good sized sound hole on the side. I am surprised how much louder this makes it acoustically. I will be adding this feature again to my future builds if it is feasible on the box.

I think you are correct about the sound hole on the side not making it actually be louder; the music is just directed more to the player. The difference is considerable.
Donovan. Did he do Mellow Yellow? I was singing that yesterday. Great lookin git. Love the roots. I don't know if player side hole sound holes really make the guitar louder, but they make them louder to the player and that increases the pleasure of playing.
