Resonator

This design sprang from the fertile mind of master craftsman Joe Considine who I consult with from time to time. Creates a very bluesy, reso'y tone.

  • Bluesheart, there is no cone or anything like that, the cover plate contacts the top at 12 points with downward pressure from the bridge and sets up a nice vibe and creates a beautiful sound that escapes via the Dobro soundhole screens. It has a tone all its own. Thanks for the kind comment!
  • Slick looking CBG. What is used for the reso under the cover?
  • Thanks Unc!
  • Very nice.   I like the reso or cover and the strings coming out of it is excellent.  Looks like a special edition.
  • Thanks John, I like working with the Gonzalez box, hers ia a Torpedo 20, very resonant and they are very picky when it comes to selcting the wood they use, some of the nicest looking spanish cedar I've seen. Dianes guitar also has a 25 1/2" scale length, as opposed to the 25" scale that I normally use, a little more effort required on the bends but a little grittier sound, I like it! I also used a 27mm piezo as opposed to a 20mm and placed it right smack in center, directly under the end of the neck to get rid of some of the unwanted noise created up top.
  • That's a great looking guitar. Very nice.
