  • Wes, thought you might like this one. Too much string thing eh, Uncle?
  • OK on the strings, Dave. Thanks.

  • Get a set of C6 strings. The string gauges are different than a G tuning set. The bass three strings are lighter than the standard and the top 3 are heavier. I've been getting Morrell C6 strings off ebay. Not expensive but good strings. I've also made up sets by getting individual strings to morf a regular set into C6.
  • I hope to try the C6.  I have a store bought that is currently a 4 string tenor - I need to add two tuners and restring and try the C6.

  • Ya i like the simple "plank" mentality. And frets are an impediment. I like to lap dance in my easy chair with the guitar on the arm rest and left leg. C6 is a nice mellow tuning. It's C tuning on the low strings and Am on the upper three. It automatic plays Hawaiian or western swing. I think you'll like the artwork on the slide i've sent. It's in the Close ups of my new batch if you wish a preview.
  • Slide bar?  No.   Huh.  I have not given lap style a decent try.  It felt like an unnatural act when I did.  I never had a tone bar to use.   Will look for it the next day or two and give it a food try.

I like the sound of lap guitars when others do it.  I've heard Wes and other talk about C6 (I think) tuning and it interests me.

I've been off the building too, but kind of have some fuzzy ideas and inspirations in my head.   I may go out to the shop this AM and do some small modifications.

Went into a sandwich shop that had a screen door this past week.  They had a hand cut and carved hand - like a hand out to shake for a door pull.  Pretty cool.  Cedar, I think.  Moderately realistic, but not overly so.  Would be a fun project.    Maybe...

Building a lap steel has interested me.  They would be easier than a regular acoustic six.  Would not have to taper the neck.

I do like those fret markers on this one.

  • Thanks Uncle John, did you receive the slide bar yet? You should have it soon if not tomorrow. I love the drawing you sent and am returning the favor. Maybe you should put one of your builds in your lap Uncle. Try my slide out lapwise.... I saved seed from my Marigolds last year and planted them all over the garden. They are getting more blooms every day. Paths of gold. Beds of Red and Orange. I like going to the garden to shoot the guitars. I need to start building at the garden too. I've been on a building lull. The porcelain work and gardening have led me astray. I made a nice gate at the garden with a carved Cedar handle. I want to build a lap steel.
  • Prize winning photo and a nice lap dog.  The more I look, the more I like.  Nice little marigolds too.

  • It is rather dignified Mr. Q. Gotta love the musical note fret markers.
  • Nice one Mr. Dave!!! gotta love that MotherOfToiletSeat.so classy... Lol
