  • Good for you, G.S. and call me John.   Be sure to use a bean can for that tail piece.

  • Uncle John, the extent of any restoration on my part will be to make a relic'd tin can tail piece, a floating bridge, and a threaded rod nut. I'll give him 3 gauges of music wire to string it with. I will also try once again to buy it from him, or convince him that it should go to the Cigar Box Museum. Beyond that I can only make my customers happy.

  • Wow.  It kind of gave me the hair standing on end feeling.  I wish it could talk and tell it's story.  seems to have gone to a guy who treasures it.  Do not change any more than you have to.

  • A man brought his Antique Cigar Box Guitar by my vendor booth today. This instrument literally gave me goosebumps holding it. An incredible example of early home made guitar building. I had to get pictures and share it with the community.
The rough carved neck, the bent nail tuners, and tin tailpiece were inspirational. There were knife marks in the side of the neck as position marks.

He brought it because I advertise that I do repairs on vintage instruments and he was interested in possibly making it playable again.

  • What's the story on this oldie? Pray tell G. S. ...
  • So cool!
