Radio guitar

I picked up this cool old radio at a local flea market for $10. Everything works!....after the tunes warm up. I was going to try to make it into a little amp, but now I'm wondering if I can make it into a guitar and amp. I'm thinking it may create way too much feedback and will be almost worthless. Any thoughts? I may even leave the radio fully functional as-is and still make it a guitar....just one that plugs into a separate amp.

  • If I can't figure out a cool way to get a neck on it without hurting it too much, I'll leave it alone
  • Hard to kill a good radio. I can't do it if they work good. Now I have plenty of them. I need a transistor to experiment with. The old one at the cabin has a replacement now so it will be my first victim.
  • I may never get around to this project. But it would be a good challenge. I really like making something that will be different than anything else I've done so that's why I'm liking this as a guitar project. As it sits, I've seen these sell on ebay for up to $50. Making a $40 profit doesn't sound that exciting and keeping it as a radio doesn't excite me either....who knows what I'll end up doing but I guarantee you one thing, I'll post some pictures on here so I can share it's coolness!
  • I think you should leave it just as it is.  Great find.

  • Tubes not tunes
