Quick Build with History

Maddog gave me this box yesterday and today it is strung up and being played. He may not recognize it, as I reversed the lid (inside out),The neck is salvaged from an old bed (circa 1945). I volunteer with a county out reach program and function mostly as a moving man - picking up donated furniture and appliances and sometimes delivering them too.The bed this came from was a little too far gone and was junked. I took home some wood, only to find it was not solid but a veneer.I left the veneer showing on the finger board, but had to cut into it elsewhere.Knowing the family this came from and that it was the elderly parents bed and knowing the ages of the kids..... I think there is a lot of family history in the bed! Do you know what I am hinting at?A shorty. 18 inch scale. Currently tuned GDg, but I think it wants a different tuning.
