Hey Julian, yep just sit the box on the lower crossbar. It works great if all your attachments (strap pins, input jacks, etc.) are toward the front of the box. These were so easy to make. $13.25 in parts (spray paint extra) and I cut and pieced them together in about an hour.
Hi Toby, just curious - do the guitars actually sit on the lower cross bar of the stands or just lean up against them? Be great to see a shot of a guitar on one :) They look like a neat solution.

@ Hal, I didn't glue any of the joints and they do collapse down quite nicely.
