It's a little inconvenient to tune since you need a wrench, but fortunately it stays in tune pretty well. Only minor tweaking is necessary. Thanks for the compliments. This is the first "from scratch" instrument (no cigar box involved) that we have tried.
My wife and I built this practice banjo for her. Our inspiration was the Tranjo produced by Sam Farris (tranjo.com). This is our version. It has a mahogany two-piece body with a 6 inch drum head as the head. We used zither tuning pins mounted on the body so the neck could be shorter. It sounds really good.
