Ted Crocker biscuit bridge pickup with brass saddle, Buffalo bone nut. Completed with Linseed Oil and several coats of a wiping varnish, creates a very close to the wood finish.

  • Thank Dave, I appreciate it, I thought the Walnut neck just has some sap wood through it but you may be right on the crotch wood idea. Beleive it or not its all accident, I originally planned to put the fret board on this side because of the knot here, the other side is a beautiful walnut too but I made the mistake and glued the fret board to the wrong side. Once I started to shape the neck I was glad I did. I used a small amount of walnut stain for the fret markers, it contrasted pretty good against the walnut but mellowed once I applied the linseed oil. Thanks again for the compliments.
  • I'm always awe struck by your neck work, you seem to have a gift for using beautiful examples of common woods. that walnut looks like it might be crotch wood, then getting that nice dark streak through the sap wood is stunning. Tell me, how did you treat the maple to get the slight color shift where the fret markers are?
