William they are not that expensive, they are chrome enclosed tuners from CBgitty which is where I bought most of my parts except I bought some rosewood fingerboard blanks from Allen guitars that I will use down the road. These tuners as well as the open gear type tuners work as they should and stay in tune, I always manually stretch new strings like hit a big bend on each string and even tug on it a bit to help the string stretch and helps to stay in tune right off the bat. PS The tuners are sold 3 right and 3 left, so I mix up either 2 on top or 2 on bottom, I am doing 3 string cbgs now and I will make a 4 stringer very soon. OG
