  • Sounds cool. Sapele is an African mahogany type wood. It looks lovely and crucially its not endangered. I use it quite a bit!
  • Thank you for the comment, Richey! Mahogany, I believe. The neck is maple.

I purchased a "you finish" neck & fingerboard. Frets were cut, but the headstock was a paddle and it was three separate pieces of wood when it arrived. It was very reasonably priced (I thought) at $33 shipped and I thought it would be nice to see one to use as a pattern going forward.

  • Lookin' gorgeous Darren! Lovely fretboard, sapele?

  • First build progressing (3 string, fretless). Contains two separate transducer systems with separate jacks.

    1) An active rod piezo with preamp/4 channel EQ

    2) A salvaged humbucker

The 24-5/8 scale has frets cut and perhaps down the road I will turn this into a fretted build. For now it will be for learning slide. Still need to add the 2nd jack, install the nut & bridge, tuners and string it up. Then: the Moment(s) of Truth. :)
