This instrument is a stick dulcimer (think McNally Strumstick), but with a body about 4 times as large as McNally's standard model. It has an overall length of 32 inches (81cm) and a scale length of 22.5" (57cm), like the standard size McNally Strumstick. It uses guitar strings 2, 3 & 4, so it sounds a lot richer than the tinny sounding McNally instrument. I also happen to have a McNally, which I like a lot. But I wanted to build a similar - but different instrument to get experience building this type of "paddle box guitar".
