"Oxford Blues" Amp

Old Jukebox wall speaker out of a tavern in Iowa from around the 1950's, 6" Oxford speaker, 2.5 watt Artec amp, 9 volt battery box, led on/off. I had 2 of these but sold the first build this fall, might be hard to let this one go as it sounds amazing. The old speaker cloth and cabinet wood has the smoke tint to it and just screams ol' Blues Tavern.

  • Thanks Outlaw! Ho Ho Ho!!! :-)

  • Sweet looking amp....I know it would be hard to let it go...but if you want to give it away, in the spirit of the upcoming Christmas Season, I can forward my address. LOL

  • Thanks Ted!

You got to see Justin play eh? That is sooooo cool!

  • NICE.!!!

  • Thanks Pick!

  • yum yum  ..

  • Thanks Diglydog! Much Appreciated!

  • I recognize that git now.  It just looks different with the mag pup mustache.

  • Thanks John! I'll keep this one around for a spell. The git is a revamped piezo build, I was always really unhappy with the sound of the piezo so I scraped it yesterday and put the bass pup in. MUCH better :-) I just ordered another Mojobone Slide from Randy, a Zebrawood this time. Can't wait!

I vaguely remember the old beer joints, they were fading away quickly as I was a youngster. I do remember the state liquor stores though. The Gin Mill just sounds Bluesy don't it!

  • Yah, man.   Good pairing - booze box git and beer joint speaker amp.  Hang on to that one Pat.   Nice git and and extra cool amp.

When we get together, please let me try that mojobone.

FYI:   Coming from a 1950s Iowa tavern - they were commonly called 'Beer Joints'.   Beer was all they sold back then - you had to go to a state liquor store to buy the hard liquor.   Beer joints were closed on Sunday.   Grocery stores sold beer, but the beer display was covered up on Sunday -IF the grocery store was open.   I got to go in the Gin Mill (Council Bluffs beer joint) with my dad a couple of times in the 50s.     I remember it well and can just about picture that speaker on the wall and the juke box playing Hank.
