One more comment about the laminated neck wood: with limited selection, I find it easier to get straight and non-warped 1.5" wide stock in the 1/2" thickness, compared to 3/4" thick. So I laminate a 1/2" and 1/4" with another 1/4" fretboard. Reinforce the neck from heel to tail with another 1/2" piece. Also yields a little higher action.
AGP, it's just a piece of poplar from a big box home improvement store. The middle layer on this one is also poplar, with a red oak fretboard. Nothing nearly as fancy as a recycled piano! Still, I suppose it's possible that a piano leg might use something like poplar...
"Nice Build", love the laminated neck!, what type of timber is the bottom part of the neck???, it looks very similar to a timber I use from a recycled Piano I dismantled, but have never found out what type it is!!!

Chris - this one plays and sounds great! Only limited by my skill level, but it's now in the hands of an actual guitar player!
