Neck blanks ready for some scribe marks for carving. Added the ears to the headstock too soon but worked around that error for the tenons. I really intended to make a simpler guitar after the first but....

I'm using hard maple. There's a wood dealer in Chicago (Woodworld) that has a short end/sale section of different boards and I found quite a few pieces at a good length for the necks. They even had some blocks wrapped together that helped with the stacking and for the blocks that I'll use for the mortises inside. It's the bracing I'm thinking about next...thanks for reminding me earlier. It's all an experiment. I really wanted to make some of the guitars that initially interested me in CBG's but I'm having a great time figuring out everything i never knew about.

It's a bit of a haul to Des Plaines, but not bad if you can shanghai a buddy to take you there (as I did).
what is the wood you are using?
