I am thinking a small piece of a dowel-rod (or even two) about 1/2-3/4 inch between my heel and neck with glue might add some structural integrity. That way my heel piece will fit onto the neck via the small pegs rather than just gluing it flat onto the neck.
I do the same, but before gluing the neck support I measure where the heel will go and screw and glue from the back side of the neck support...then glue and screw the neck support too the neck . I had a few heel fall off just from glue (from bumping) so I started using a single sized deck screw too fit thru the support, neck the into the heel. problem solved.
