    Thanks John! I liked that lil' streak of different color in the wood and it was just coincidence that it matched up with the plate, better to be lucky than good I guess  :-)   See a few Sandhills around here but not many. More Blue Herons and egrets than anything else. Have not tried a Sandhill yet, I hear they're boney as hell ;-)

  • Yup.  A scenic beauty.   Funny how that color variation in the finger board kind of matches and enhances the pretty plate.  It would not be as good without that.  

    Folks, those birds on the plate are sandhills cranes.   They are big and noisy and big flocks come through central Nebraska in the spring.  A great thing to see.  They are uncommon in the eastern part of the state, but I bet Pat sees some on the river.   Well, gees, I forgot.  He must get them over his way because he said they are tasty.
