Same here a few years back. I didn't lose as much as you but I have done this twice in this life time. I have limited feeling in the left hand. My ukes are my therapy. My cousin is a member of a band in Hampton Beach NH and his hand is also altered and he plays guitars with a slimmer neck. Some chords he can't do but some how he gets around it. Keep at it and master the uke.......or till the neighbors complain.
Tom - I'm trying. Messed up my hand pretty good with my table saw earlier this year. Lost half my thumb and index and middle finger don't move to good. It's my fretting hand so it's good therapy!
