  • ha = ya
  • There ha go...
  • Yup.   I am mediocre on a 6 string and considerably better on a DGBE four.   Easier.  Thanks, Ron.

  • I like that chord chart, I see what you mean now...hmmm, might have to put those 4 higher strings on again...way to easy then to get the same type chords from a 6 string..

  • Michael,

Beautiful git, this discussion is obviously carrying on from our previous tuning one:

Here's a couple good resources for DGBE tuning:

    http://www.northernmusician.com/FAQ.html

    http://www.cigarboxnation.com/forum/topics/4string-epiphany

    http://www.jbott.com/gtb_chords.pdf

A great vid from Ben Baker (C.B. Gitty):

Also try these nifty apps for your phone or iPad:

    ChordBank: http://www.chordbank.com

    ChordGenie: http://www.phoload.com/software/326-chordgenie/view

Both of those can be dialed in for 3 and 4 stringers in a variety of tunings, and the chords available in evety key can be displayed.

    Now get crackin'!
  • i might seem a little dumb here, but why is it quick and easy? like how do you do a g chord and c chord in that tuning? DGBE

  • Two or more examples- my most recent video 'Did I write this song or not' is using DGBE tuning and finger chords.     My vids 'Lets Go Down To The River'  and 'One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer'  uses GDGB

If you play six string, transferring to DGBE quick and easy.   If you want that deep tone for slide, then GDGB is better.   GDGB is kind of like our CBG standard GDg with an extra treble string for a bit more sound and versatility.

  • Well actually I am confused lol, it came with the small four, then i switched cause everyone was saying to use the middle for, so now I'm not sure, I just want access to some chords and instruction...and it seems there are more videos with the middle set and GDGB tunings... i liked the sound better with the small set though, however the chord shapes i cannot find..what chords are you using with DGBD? or a chart with chords for that tuning?

  • But, maybe I see where you are coming from.  Yeah, the middle four would be great for playing slide in open G tuned GDGB  -I use that tuning too and finger chord with it some.   Yeah both those tunings are good.

  • Small four.
