Lou, I have been a harp player for 30+ years and never really had any desire to play stringed instruments even though all 3 of my brothers are avid guitar players. My Nephew introduced me to CBGs 5 or 6 years ago and I enjoyed building them and playing with them (not actually playing them).
When I built my first CBUke around a year ago for some reason I really had the desire to learn how to actually play the Uke. I am by no stretch an accomplished musician on the Uke now but I can do a pretty decent job strumming out 8 or 10 songs by learning from YouTube lessons by various teachers.
Building the instrument is very enjoyable to me but nothing compares to actually making music with my hand made Ukes. Give it a try!
