My 4th CBG - Inside the Box View

Here's a peek inside the box. As the cigar box is rather small, I wanted to minimize the amount of internal bracing. There are discussions on CBN describing better ways to attach a "bolt-on" neck. I'll explore these on future builds.This build was a failure in my opinion in that it require an external neck brace (heal). I think on a short neck instrument with nylon strings, it might have been enough, but not with a long neck and steel wire strings.Another problem with this design was how to open the cigar box without loosing tension on the wires. It just does not work. The neck must therefore be attached to the lid of the cigar box if you want one that will easily open.

  • Looking good. If you want to open it easily, try using the box bottom as the soundboard. They are usually thinner and so sound better too.
