  • "LOL Pick", I'm beginning to think you must have a very large book of "Wryly Humorous Quips", but if you haven't, then there is a big opening for you to write one!  :-D

  • Shoulda kept him AGP,  one more and you woulda had a set of .........

    Stage Monitors

    XD

  •  Well I didn't exactly go looking for a Nile Monitor, but one kind of fell into my lap along with all the hotrocks, cage, etc. I was looking for a large iguana or Python. Much tamer, but he needed a home and it was looking like noone was gonna take him. Sooo, I gave him a home.

  • Lol Pick, only you could think up the practicing his scales comment  :-D

  • Could not imagine anyone wanting one these crazy critters for a pet Southern Ray, but did have a Carpet Python as a pet in my younger days, a much more docile reptile than our visitor yesterday

    :-D

  •   Great mouser. Powerful animal. Their defensive mechanisms include - 1) Defecation, had the unfortunate experience happen when I took it off the hands of a fellow that didn't want it. 2) Yes, that tail will leave welts on you. Mine was three feet when I got it, when i learned of its capacity to do that. 3) Bites, he go me once. My mistake. Went to change his water right after cleaning the rat cage. Big mistake. He had me in a blink of an eye. Bruised my knuckle which hurt for a solid month. The abrasion from the tiny teeth didn't heal for that month either. It's not venomous, but can spread infection. He was about five feet when he passed on.

  • I will keep  you...., and i will call you "cat" . :-}

    Relax folks . he was just in the guitar shed , practicing his "scales "  ;

  •   That  is so cool, but stay away from that tail. I adopted a rescue nile monitor, a close cousin, a few of decades ago. Kept him cozy for a few years. Very interesting animal, but he was not at all a cuddly pet.

  • I am leaving. That thing is going to give me bad dreams.  Still, I am glad you did the right thing for it.

  • This one was a good 4 feet long Jerry, and Bob, and I believe that Loooooooooong Tail can be used as a Whip like weapon when agitated, they're pretty common in the Forests of my area, but never expected to see one in my backyard. :-)
