Those clasps came from the hardware store, for only a few bucks; the box itself has some magnets inside to keep it closed, but it doesn't really work that well, so I decided to strap it closed. The neck came off a bass guitar I got for christmas when I was 9. I'm considering removing the tuning heads, as one or two have VERY loose action when you turn them. (Also, it uses a *plastic* nut -- that's gotta go!)
It's a Quesada Tributo, a very nice box. Originally it was going to be acoustic, but the thick top would've prevented a decent sound. The box originally had an ornate, foil-ish strip along the top, but once i began to cut out the neck pocket, the entire strip had to go. After an unplanned accident, i ended up sanding most of the top and repainting it. (You can see some of the accident photos in my photo album for this build)
Thanks, Colin! This photo was taken after about 4 coats of satin clear-coating; none of the hardware has been screwed down yet. I have about 2 or 3 more coats I want to put on, then let it sit for 2 weeks before I do any permanent work. (The satin finish hides a lot of the screw-ups, gouges and paint-runs I left in the job.)
