Me demoing, trying to attract customers

I wasn't in a great location for this sale, so I kept cranking out the music so people would know I was there. My neighbors were annoyed, but really I was bringing customers to them too. I'm posting a video of this. Warning, it's not very good.

  • Thanks for all the comments. I wasn't trying to justify anything. Just giving information. Have a HAPPY THANGIVING Everyone!
  • your builds look good in the pics and Iam sure they sound great

  • that is a good thing, and no justification required

  • Thanks for all the comments, guys! I do have three strings canjos that are 25.5 inch scale. Some people would can than a tin can guitar, whatever. Even my CBGs are fairly basic. Most take two to three days to build ( though some take weeks). Some people like building $300 CBGs and they are amazing, but it's not my style. I like what I build and I enjoy playing them. My family helps me build them sometimes and we usually sell them together at fairs. It's a good life.
  • I've found that the more extensive Canjo builds like from car hubcaps with magnetic pickup's are doing good for me - but there more elaborate build's like 40 plus hours!
If you want to focus on CBG's then paper covered wooden boxes that are brightly colored do well!
  • It is good to offer cheaper stuff dont get me wrong. Its just when I start building one I look at the box and say to myself this is to nice to build it cheap so it always ends up on the higher end of things. Of course it takes a while for me to sell them but I dont mind waiting.

  • thank you for your input

  • Canjos are fine for the masses but I just cant bring myself to build any of them. I would rather build nicer 3 and 4 strings.

  • William, they sell pretty good, but, they have to be attractive tins or cans. I've had Star Wars cans, Bugs. Bunny, The Beatles, and Campbell's soup cans featuring cartoon charectars. They usually sell well. This time of year, Christmas tins sell well also. My more generic cans and tins haven't sold at all. For me, my canjos are cheaper and faster to build, so I charge less for them. Some people like to buy the cheapest thing I have. I generally sell more CBGs than canjos. I don't claim to know everything (or anything for that matter), but I'm happy to share what works for me.
  • when your doing a show I noticed a lot of canjos do you sell quite a few looking at selling in southwest
