Here's how the headstock looks from the right side. The original headstock was 8" long and had a scarf joint cut. I cut off the scarf part at a 90 degree angle, then flipped the cut piece around and found it would make a nice support piece, so that's what I used. You can see it here under the headstock. I used a wooden dowel and glue to secure the headstock to the sound box.
