    It is Chineese Mandolin. Unlike a regular Mando, there are several tri-string matchings... a couple bi-strings and the lowest string is unpaired. Very odd piece. With fourteen strings it is little wonder why it cracked in humidity.

    Mando? It looks like this thing is set up for _14_ strings. Is it some kind of lute replica maybe?
