I have a couple of those -one is a nice old Stanley job with brass hardware- but they're only about 3/4" wide. Most of the advert yardsticks I come across are fairly narrow (just over an inch wide) and usually fairly thin too. The one I used for this CBG is a robust 1-1/4" wide x 1/4" thick. The older ones are often thicker, wider and just visually more interesting than the newer stuff. Man, I guess they don't even make gimme yardsticks like they used to!
Don't know if you have any of the old carpenter's folk up rules. Don't know a proper name. About 7inches folded and 6 feet unfolded. I have some from may dad. Saw one in an antique store folded into a star shape. Neat.
Oh man. That took my breath away. Looks good and I collect yard sticks. They are cheaper and take up less room than Harleys, rat rods, old dirt bikes or Martin guitars. Now, tell the truth. Did you do this to make measuring the frets easier?
Yeah, I'd been meaning to try the yardstick thing for a while, but wasn't sure how well it would work out with the frets, It actually plays great. I built it for an artist friend who does a lot of stuff with found materials... cigar boxes and old yard sticks/rulers in particular.

Thanks! And yeah, Uncle John, this one obviously has a 24" fret scale. Ha! I'm anxious to do some more stuff with old yardsticks.

cool , .. ive seen a few yard stick fretboards .. and used a few myself .. but this is the first fretted one i've seen . ;-)
