I really just propped it up there to better show the size of the amp ;) but thanks, John! The mid 50's Magnasync Moviola "squak box" was designed to provide sound for movie editors while viewing the film being reviewed when using the Moviola editing system. From what I have read, sounds like someone figured out that these can make for pretty cool little tube amp combos with very little modification. I'm not completely familiar with the history behind this one, but it was purchased by a local player from a guitar shop about 20 years ago or so he said.
I have yet to dig into it but it's a pretty simple single ended circuit with just a on-off vol. control. It also has a 1/4" speaker out to drive an outboard cab. The little internal 4" Alnico driver is producing some wicked cool tone as is.
