This a 5 string banjo tuned a full octave down from a standard G banjo. I learned after it was almost completed that this is called a cello banjo. The scale is 26.5"and steel wrapped silk except for the high (middle) G fifth string. Like my previous two build I use the cigar box bottom for the sound board: graphically less interesting but the thin bottoms in my opinion make better sound and volume.
