its more of an ornament, but have used it for some music. its kinda high up there mind. but ive used 28's for the strings so they sit at high D and A quite nicely. as for fretting its kinda not worth it. i have rossage fingers so ill never be able to play it. works great using a bow tho.
The shortest scaled instrument that I've built was a 15" 2-stringer with a small home-made sound box. I liked the small size, but not the high pitch, so I haven't experimented with any shorter scale lengths. Are you planning to fret yours, or leave it fretless? My "shorty" is diatonically fretted as most my instruments are.
