    JP, this instrument is a real kick to play and sounds great. It's currently strung up as a righty, so one of the guys on the worship team can play it. I'm not sure how much effect the masonite has on the tone, but it chewed up my drum sander on my drill press. I will be using 1/8" plywood in the future because it sands better. I think you're right on the Danelectros. Doug

    I bet that masonite give a nice tone.  Weren't the old Danelectros made out of it?
