Lap steel #23 modeled after a 40s Silvertone

  • Thanks Uncle John, I made a little more progress today and cut a hole for my Tiesko pup. A little more filing and sanding and she'll slide in. Kind of a crude hole so far...

  • Looooking good.   Saw this flash by on the main page and knew it was yours.

  • Hi Randy, Ottie, thanks guys. I love this cherry control plate too. It came from a big cherry in our yard that fell and hit our porch and broke its corner. We had part of it sawed up for treats like this. I'll airbrush the fret dots tomorrow. i'm thinking squares and diamonds would be easy to mask off. I traced this body off a Silvertone relic. It has a 23 inch scale length and the 12th fret is right where the body meets the neck. The bridge will be right below the control plate on a plate of it's own so it has the height for a lap steel. I've got a cool Oahu hardtail bridge for her. I've got some nice pups to choose from too. I think a Tiesko will be nice. Wish i had a speed bump lap pup, but they go too high on ebay. I'll cut the control plate holes tomorrow. and make a bridge plate.
