This Kay guitar came to me yesterday from the land fill (county dump) . I have 3 good playing land fill guitars. My friend Terry, has brought me two of them. He says there is a good old boy working out there who sets things aside in hopes somebody might have use for them. Oh, yes!The saddle and bridge were broken. The strings were set up to be strung though the saddle - and part of that was broken. I made the crude tailpiece out of scrap metal and CBG style, used a bolt saddle. The action is perfect for slide. In standard tuning, it rates a C-. In open G or open E, it rates at least a B for playability and sound. It has a lot of bass.I may later electrify it and may put on a store bought tail piece.

Nice one Uncle, I vote for the tail you made. I love these old Ks as the bridge is centered on the lower bout so you can convert to a resonator with the cover plate centered on the soundboard. You got a nice reso-rection or a Faux reso candidate....

Thanks, Dave. A reso is a consideration. I like to modify guitars - this one may play and look too nice to mess with. Kind of a :} :( deal.
