  • Thanks Maddog. It works great. The bowed box lid is holding up under pressure so far. A slight sag in it. I have no structure inside to hold it up. No soundpost or bass bar. It has a bass cello like tone.

thanks AGP. The Double Diddle Fiddle’s farting around with the Dij. I need to make a Dijery Double Diddle Fiddley Fartin Slider. Swell? You Bet.

ya Daniel. The cello strings are real long for this thing. I cut off about a foot or more string to get her strung. Yet the viola strings are too short.

  • Cello strings are softer feeling than a bass string. They look like oversized fiddle strings. Mine are inexpensive Chinese steel strings. Good cello strings are more gut like than metal. Soft and easily vibrated by the bow. Metal strings are slick and squeaky in comparison. I’d like to splurge on some good strings but my ship has not come in yet. It musta sunk.

  • Real nice Dave! Everything about it just clicks!

  • Nice Lookin' Double Diddle Fiddle Dave, luv the bowed Moo Cow Box   :-)

  • so you just make it oversized and cut till you get the right height? how does a cello string compare to a bass string?

  • Ya Daniel. It’s not all that long. Even viola strings are a tad shorter than needed. Cello is my only way to go. The bridge is scrap maple from cutting the neck wood. I like the sanded shapes into the burned wood from my dull bandsaw blade.

  • nice build. neck through. only way to fly. acoustic? cello strings? must be long. nice tailored bridge.
