I did not have a plan just made it up as i went along.
This was my first cbg type build though i have built many stringed instruments.I braced the tin lid in a modified guitar bracing method.ie a bridge plate and 2 longitudinal braces running under the bridge.The top still seemed very flexible so i added some smaller lateral braces.All wood to tin joints were glued with araldite which is a popular 2 tube epoxy available in the uk.I also glued a block to each end of the tin to attach the neck to - a tenon slotted into the block -and to support a logitudinal strut to stop the tin collapsing.That is about it.Subsequent builds using tins i have used the usual method of having the neck going through the tin on which the bridge rests,this gives better support but not so good acoustically.That has not worried me too much as i started winding pickups accepting thathey are going to be louder that way.
I quite like the jelly baby banjo though, it has a nice tone quite soft - just like a jelly baby!
Right now i am about to start a cbg in which i am building the box first so i reckon i will use more conventional lutherie techniques to get a better acoustic sound.Watch this space.
Just had a whole load of photos taken of various projects which will be going up on my new hopefully soon to be unveiled website.I will post up an address soon as it is running.

Wow! Nice banjo. I'm stydying music at university in Montreal and I'm suppose to build a cigar box banjo that looks like your (even if it's not cigar box). Do you have a plan of your piece and if yes would you be willing to share it? Thanks.

Diane the scale is 21.5 inches.the neck is douglas fir fingerboard maple and there is a fair bit of bracing involved all held together by Araldite which is a 2 tube epoxy available in these parts.It also has a very cheap piezo pickup glued under the bridge.When it is plugged in it sort of changes character and howls like someone who had eaten a whole tin of jelly babies would after receiving his dentists bill
