3 is the classic and it would be good if every builder had built some and can play them. If a person plays a six string the a fretted 4 in DGBE is a natural an almost instant being able to play. I love a fretted GDGB open G. I can play with a slide or do easy 2 finger C and D7 chords and a 1 finger Em.
I think you did great on the Jack concept CBG. I can't see a thing I would wish to improve - well - for me a four string would be better - but 3 is our classic number.
