    Nice looking! I just finished a banjo with the exact same gas can for a friend of mine who bought it on ebay :)

    I've done 4 of these gas can banjos and have not found it necessary to reinforce the inside of the can. I do, however, reinforce the top and bottom of the can with some flat sheetmetal. I also avoid using cans that have any significant dents on the edges that might lead to can failure.

    Very nice banjo.   Did you reinforce the can on the inside?   I have a gas can that I  have not used yet.
