  • Looks like the braided wire is ground, white is positive. Hook ups to volume & tone are same as with piezo. Location of the pickup will determine much of the sound. Close to neck and the strings are vibrating like mad in big motions, so bigger grittier output...closer to bridge, strings are vibrating in tighter patterns, so a brighter sound...

  • I got this the other day and would like to put it in one of my CBG's. I've done piezo's with volume and tone knobs with minimal difficulty, but having only these two wires to work with is new to me. Can't seem to find a "wiring a humbucker for dummies" site anywhere. Do I have to add a negative wire somewhere? Possibly from the volume knob to the jack. Is this ground going to the back of the volume pot? Some diagrams I see say to the bridge. I'm not worried about trial and error, but I'd like to have some indication that I'm on the right track. Would a tone knob be necessary? Also the position of the pickup. I see some close to the neck and some closer to the bridge. I assume it is just preference of more treble or bass? Any help would be appreciated.
