  • Hi John; it is heavy as all git out but am going to give it a shot.  I need to fabricate a tone ring because the top smooth portion of the metal rim has deteriorated.  I am also making a new fretboard and using some old brass fret material that a luthier friend gave me.  Then I will plug the tuner holes, laminate a piece of thin walnut on it and re-drill for new tuners.  Whoever had it before spray painted  the entire instrument with ugly kaki green paint, so that will have to be stripped.  Other than that, it seems to be structurally sound.  Will probably try to find another skin for it rather than using a modern top, but time will tell.  Am really looking forward to show it to Carly (the woman who gave it to me,  She is the creator of the line of hot sauces Mundi Sauce which is all made locally with organic products from farmers here in town.  Awesome stuff.  Will eventually post the finished restoration whenever that happens.  Thanks for commenting

  • I like it, Ron.  But it is pretty far gone.  It would still make a nice wall hanger in the right setting.  What will you do with it?
