Poplar is usually painted because it's not a very pretty wood, that tends to oxidize and turn green, as time goes on. I wanted to show the grain, so I chose to mix my own color, using water-based dyes. 5 coats of urethane on top of that.

    Beautiful work!  Me, I kinda like the patina on poplar.  No accounting for taste, they say.
