My first two builds. The back wall of my bar is Hawaiian Koa burl. The North Carolina gitty is curly grained Hawaiian Koa book matched sequence matched veneer. The Elvis gitty is ribbon grained Hawaiian Koa book matched sequence matched veneer. The main body is western red maple. The fret board is Wenge wood from the Belgian Congo. The through-the-body neck and cross-brace are solid Hawaiian Koa. I’ve had the Koa in storage for over 30 years! I cut, routed and drilled the brass pickup housing using my drill press and then had it milled (beveled) locally. Umpteen dozen coats of hand-rubbed Varathane. Lemon oil on the fret board.I bought the hardware, electronics (UK 2000 preamp) and fret board online at CB Gitty Crafter Supply.
