Yes John, it has an adjustable snare inside. What you see there is the end of a dowel that goes through the box to the other side. The other side has a knob to tighten the dowel which holds the snare. I have interior pictures up that show the snare mechanism.

Great looking cajon. What is that ear on the side? Did you put a spring thing inside?
