Well the box was in a sorry condition but the whole thing is made of plywood rather than MDF.
The distressing was done using nothing more than wire wool, and sealed with five or six coats of Danish Oil, i guess I got lucky!
The pickup cover and the speed knobs were done by spraying a bit of brass spray paint, and whilst still wet, I lightly sprayed it with black satin paint. Left it to dry and used wire wool to 'shape' the colors.
