I just don't gather how these work (I am rather new to CBGs). Are they threaded into the brass plate, and if so, what keeps them from bottoming out? I assume the nut is to lock the thumbscrew in place once the tuning is correct? Would you take a moment to elaborate?

Huh, Looks cool. Seems a good way to use these kind of home made tuners.
