Backside view. The large can acts as a shield for the mic element. This is what makes the mic uni-directional. It also provides a great place to put the jack. I had to loop the cable to keep tension off of the mic head. When I didn't do this the cable negated the suspension system and transfered a lot of noise from the stand into the mic. It still isn't perfect, but to be honest it's quieter than any other mic I have ever used.
