Thanks RK! I didn't realize this was so out of focus- I'll have to take some better pics. The fretboard is decorative 'celtic' 1 1/2" x 1/4" x 3' white pine available at Michael's craft store (sometimes...) for about $4. I spray painted it red; then sanded off the top layer to get the paint in the carvings. This painting red then sanding also worked fantastic bringing out the grain of the red oak neck. Then I used the juice from a jar of cherries to stain the neck and some of the frets. My favorite build = keeping this one :)
