headstock

Instead of a flat headstock I wanted a pegbox, so here it is complete with 1961 Kay Vanguard II inline tuners. The cutaway motif is carried to the bridge and tailpiece as well. Nut is ebony.

  • I like slotted headstocks, but have always avoided wide slots because I feel both ends of the tuner shaft need to be supported. While it may not actually be a problem, I'd suggest adding an "insert" to the far side of the slot to receive the ends of the 3 tuner shafts. It could be made of another block of wood. I came across a photo of a headstock that implements this. Here's that photo...

    See the block of wood mounter inside the wide slot (above the "Gitz" text)? You could do something similar to strengthen the support of your tuners. Just my 2 cents worth...

    Other than that your headstock look real good!
