Since building three solid body instruments, I've been brainstorming different shapes. These are some of the ones I like best. #8 is the one I used for an electric ukulele with steel strings and a humbucker pickup. These could be built with through-neck or bolt-on neck construction. I'll probably try constructing one of these once my carpal tunnel surgery heals.https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/archangel-arts-guitars-and-ukulelesRead more…
Thanks for the link Ron! Adding it to my favorites. Yeah, ergonomics starts to limit how things can be shaped and still work. I could probably build one shaped like a ten pointed star but I can't think of anyone I dislike enough to give that to. :D
And, John, yep I got my carpal tunnel surgery done. Typing a bit slowly due to the bandage over my stitches right now.
Hmmm. I like 'em. Those look somewhat similar to J.Backlund designs, and other shapes by other designers. Not saying you copied 'em, but it's just that there's a limited number of curves pleasing to the eye and comfortable to hold. Think I'd flip #3 for better elbow support for a righty, and I really dig #'s 2, 6 and 8. Especially #6...

Thanks for sharing - 2 4 and 8
Oh, yeah, just for comparison: http://www.jbacklund.com
4 & 6
Those are nice. I bet #1 would sit nice on the lap. 6 looks lute or dart like. I favor number 8.
Hey. you got your surgery done, I hope you are soon recovered and much improved.
