I know the tuners are backwards. As another poster recently said, "I did it that way for better tone". Bullsh*t - I didn't know what I was doing back then. The eye is abalone.

  • PS: I mounted some tuners the wrong way in my early builds too.   Gave those away.   Hope they still function.

  • UJ, thanks for the comments. Yes, it was one of my early "theme" gits.  Because of the original toothpick frets and the poor bridge location, I never played it much - used as a wall hanger.  Now that I've rebuilt it, it sounds much better, so I hope I'll pick it up more and can tell you then about the tuners.  So far no issues.  I would have turned them around the "right" way, but didn't have room on the back of the headstock.

  • Hal, this must be one of your early gits.  No signature pepper head stock.   But I like the gator head stock and the whole thing.  How's it sound?  Got some bite to it?

    I am curious...  how have the tuners held up and worked mounted like that?
