That glue is good stuff for various "permanent" jobs. It's heat resistant to 300 degrees and water proof, slow setting so you can fuss with it. Water cleanup, you can wipe down your joint with damp rag till all the ooz out is gone. I use it to fix cracks in porcelain and a variety of jobs. Great to fix too deep slots in nuts.
Dave, it is a nice place to live, been here for 4 years since my job was relocated. I will have to check out the Marine Tex glue when I make it to the boat shop. Thanks for the tip!
Couldn't you make it a roller by short pieces of pipe fit over an axle (bolt, etc.). ... Maybe parts from a sailboat shop. They use little rollers for the sails, etc. Rollers with washer spacers...?
Thanks Bruce, yep this was a learning experience for me. It really was a lot of work and still working on it. The store bought travel guitar I copied from an online ad had some type of rollers or bearings that the strings ride on, I tried a hardwood dowel rod first, but the strings dug in and didn't slide. Then I tried PVC pipe but it was still too much friction so I ended up with a piece of stainless steel thinking it would be slick enough but it is still not quite slick enough. (Breaking strings because of the tension on the back side of the guitar) I think I am going to try some Aquila Nylgut strings, they won't have as much tension and aslo are slicker. I would welcome any suggestions you may have.
